Early Childhood Study
Course in Professional Development

For educators, doctors, therapists, curative educators and parents:

People working with young children today are faced with the question of how to help them incarnate in a healthy way, into themselves and into the world.  Dyslexia, autism, anxiety, asthma, behaviour, discipline and all kinds of health problems are symptoms of our time.  Educators, doctors, therapists, curative educators and parents are increasingly called on to work together.  An inspirational link between us all is the study of the human being developed from the indications of Rudolf Steiner.  He proposed that education must have a therapeutic orientation, always serving the development and health of the individual.

Key questions:

  • How can I grow in my profession?
  • Where do I find the source for my own inner development?
  • How can I be creative in my daily work?
  • And how can I meet the challenges that I encounter?
  • Where can I find the will forces and enthusiasm to bring healing into early childhood education and our social environment

The practicalities
This course offers a weekend residential three times a year, on the first weekend of each half term.  It will take place at Emerson College, in East Sussex and there will be 9 residentials over 3 years, which can be attended individually.  Each residential will be led by an international visiting expert, and lectures will be supported by opportunities for artistic deepening and discussion of the themes.  A certificate of attendance for CPD will be available.

The content
We are pleased to announce that the first two sessions, 17th - 19th February 2012 and 1st - 3rd June 2012, will be led by Dr Bruno Callegaro, an experienced anthroposophical doctor and teacher educator.  His contributions will be followed in autumn 2012 and spring 2013 with two sessions led by Heiner Priess who also has many years' experience in Waldorf and curative teacher education.  Further sessions with other leaders will follow these with themes such as the inner schooling of the adult, the guarding of childhood, 'seeing with the heart' and the processes of life, play and learning.

Throughout the course there will be an emphasis not only on our work with the young child, but also on the path of inner development that we need to follow in order to keep our work fresh and renew our inspiration.

The organisers of this course are Thea Kaesbach and Jill Taplin.  The brochure and website will be available in the autumn.  Please contact us for further details or to receive our brochure and booking form:
